Ken Squires
Ken Squires was a Republican candidate for the 2011 special election to District 22 of the Louisiana State Senate. He was defeated in special election on January 22.
Squires operates a small crop dusting business, and was one of the first pilots to introduce helicopter crop dusting to Louisiana. He is also a commercial pilot and certified flight instructor for planes and helicopters. He holds 10 FAA ratings/licenses and has logged over 20,000 hours of flight time. He has been a Jeanerette resident for 20 years, and helped garner public funds for the renovation of the Jeanerette airport. He has also served as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff in Iberia parish for 10 years. He is married to his wife, Pearl. They have three daughters.[1]

2011
Squires was defeated by Fred Mills, Jr. in the District 22 special election for the Louisiana State Senate. The special election primary took place on January 22. All candidates, regardless of affiliation, appeared on the ballot. Since Mills received more than 50% of the votes, the election will not proceed to a runoff.[2][3]
