As a native Texan, I believe that service to my hometown is a responsibility that I cannot ignore and have actively embraced this responsibility. As a high school student I coordinated volunteer teams for the Fort Bend County Women's Center. To this day, I continue to spearhead groups for Habitat for Humanity, Houston Food Bank, Catholic churches, and other outreach programs. During my career in supporting first responders, I gained an appreciation that willingness to serve must be matched by the dedication to develop the necessary capabilities.
