Meredith Switzer
Meredith Blaise Switzer was the District 4, Position 2 judge on the Arkansas Court of Appeals from April 8, 2019, to December 31, 2020. Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) appointed Switzer on April 8, 2019, to succeed Judge David "Mac" Glover, who died in March 2019. Under Arkansas law, Switzer was prohibited from running to succeed herself in the 2020 election.[1][2]
District 4 is composed of Clark, Garland, Hempstead, Hot Spring, Howard, Little River, Logan, Miller, Montgomery, Pike, Polk, Scott, Sebastian, Sevier, and Yell counties.[3]
Switzer served as a district judge in Garland County, Arkansas, from 2016 to 2018.[1]
Education
Switzer obtained an undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 2001. She received a J.D. with honors from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) Law School in 2004. During her legal studies, Switzer served as executive editor of the UALR Law Review.[1]
Career
Switzer was the District 4, Position 2 judge on the Arkansas Court of Appeals from April 8, 2019, to December 31, 2020. From January 2019 to April 2019, she was the chief legal counsel of Quapaw House, Inc. Before that, Switzer was a district judge in Garland County from 2016 to 2018. Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) appointed Switzer to this position in December 2016, to succeed her father, David B. Switzer. She served in this position until 2018, when she was prohibited from running to succeed herself.[1]
Switzer previously worked for the Attorney General of Arkansas, beginning in 2009, where she eventually became deputy attorney general of the state Agencies Department. Before 2009, Switzer worked as an associate attorney at Rose Law Firm.[1]
