Kemnitz ran in the 2012 election for New York State Assembly District 98. She lost against Aron B. Wieder and Gerard T. McQuade, Jr. in the Democratic primary on September 13, 2012.[1][2][3]

Kemnitz was a Democratic candidate for District 97 of the New York State Assembly. She was uncontested in the September 14 Democratic primary. Kemnitz was defeated by incumbent Ann Rabbitt (R) in the general election on November 2.[4]
