Campaign themes
Richardson's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]
Property Tax Reform
- Excerpt: "Income from a 10% fee on Marcellus Shale would help bring in the needed revenue to help achieve this. Without doubt, corporations need to pay their fair-share in order to help lower the burden on property owners in the state."
Fiscal Responsibility
- Excerpt: "Allocations and cuts need to be done in a fiscally responsible way in order to ensure one or two sectors are not being cut to death while others are not paying their fair-share. Money that is allocated must be tracked and the mentality of "spend it or lose it" needs to be policed. When money is allocated, the state needs to oversee exactly how that is spent."
Higher Education
- Excerpt: "As a product of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, I know first hand how important an affordable post-secondary education is. After attending Mansfield University and Millersville University (Undergraduate and Graduate) I have first hand experience of the excellent academics these schools afford."
Basic Education
- Excerpt: "Education is the foundation for everything in a person’s life. Teaching public school children for the last 4 years, I see first-hand how education can make or break a child’s future. Early childhood education is the essential building block to which the rest of a child’s education and life is built upon."
Labor
- Excerpt: "Unionization of the workforce is a check and balance system on the corporations because it provides the workers with a voice. If the workforce is not allowed to pull together to garnish a fair wage the corporations will not provide one out of the goodness of their hearts."
Hunting/Fishing in PA
- Excerpt: "As someone who has spent many hours perched in a tree-stand overlooking a patch of white oaks and someone who has lost many hooks and split-shot pursuing brown trout in the Yellow Breeches, I understand and share the importance and values of the hunting and fishing community"
