Susan Dabaja is a judge of the Michigan 3rd Circuit Court. She assumed office on April 18, 2022. Her current term ends on January 1, 2029.

Dabaja ran for re-election for judge of the Michigan 3rd Circuit Court. She won in the general election on November 8, 2022.

She was appointed to the court on March 31, 2022, by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) to replace Bruce Morrow.[1]

Biography

Dabaja earned a B.S. from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and earned her J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Prior to her appointment, Dabja practiced and owned the Law Office of Susan A. Dabaja, P.C.[1]

Michigan held general elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. A primary election occurred on August 2, 2016. The candidate filing deadline for incumbents was March 21, and the deadline for non-incumbents was April 19.[2] Gene Hunt defeated Susan Dabaja in the 19th District general election.[3]

Judges of the Michigan District Courts are each elected to six-year terms.[4] The elections for this court are nonpartisan contested elections. To serve on this court, a judge must be a qualified elector of the district, licensed to practice law in the state, under the age of 70, and have five years of experience practicing law.
