Anthony "Tony" Guglielmo (b. October 13, 1940) is a former Republican member of the Connecticut State Senate, representing District 35 from 1993 to 2019. He served as deputy minority leader and chief deputy minority leader.

Guglielmo was a member of the Ledyard Republican Town Committee from 1965 to 1968. He was a candidate for the United States House of Representatives in 1980 and 1982 but was not elected. From 1987 to 1988 he was a member of the Executive Committee to Elect George Bush President. In 1988 he was an Alternate Connecticut Delegate to the Republican National Convention.

Biography

Guglielmo earned his B.A. in political science from the University of Connecticut in 1962 and his M.A. in history from Trinity College in 1991. His professional experience includes working as a Salesman for Liberty Mutual Insurance from 1963 to 1965, Salesman for Bailey Agencies Incorporated from 1965 to 1968, President/Owner of Staffordville Insurance Agency since 1968 and President/Owner of Penny-Hanley and Howley Company, Incorporated, since 1968. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Army/National Guard from 1963 to 1968.

Elections for the Connecticut State Senate consisted of a primary election on August 12, 2014, and a general election on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 10, 2014. Incumbent Tony Guglielmo was unopposed in the Republican primary and defeated Andrea Penta (Working Families) in the general election. Bill Loftus (D) withdrew from the race on July 11, 2014.[2] Guglielmo will run unopposed in the general election.[3][4]
