In Vermont, only probate court judges and assistant judges stand for election. In 2014, a total of 58 judicial candidates appeared on ballots statewide. Of these, 26 ran unopposed, while 28 faced contested races. Thirty-five incumbents sought re-election, with two losing their bids to challengers.

Interesting races
- Both defeated incumbents, Assistant Judges John A. Noble and Lamont Barnett, were defeated in the primary.
- The Orleans County assistant judge race was competitive, with two Republicans, two Democrats, and one independent vying for two open seats. The winners were Republican candidates Benjamin M. Batchelder and Curtis A. Hardy, who earned 31.4% and 30.4% of the vote, respectively.
