Potential measures
The Wyoming State Legislature was able to refer measures to the ballot during its 2020 legislative session, which ended on March 12, 2020. The signature deadline for citizen initiatives passed on February 7, 2020.
Getting measures on the ballot
As soon as petition sponsors have received the petition form from the state, they have 18 months to collect and submit signatures. If sufficient signatures have been gathered, the measure is presented to voters at the next general election after a legislative session has convened and adjourned. The signature deadline for initiatives passed on February 7, 2020.[1]
For referendums, signatures must be submitted no later than 90 days after the adjournment of the legislature.
The Wyoming Legislature has the power to place constitutional amendments on the ballot when a two-thirds majority of members in each house of the legislature approves the amendment.
Once on the ballot, the amendment must be approved by a simple majority of the electors.
