Two at-large seats were up for election on the Tolleson Union High School District's Governing Board in 2014. Corina C. Madruga and Devin Del Palacio ran unopposed for the open at-large seats. 2014

Del Palacio provided the following statement on his Facebook campaign page:

Devin Del Palacio has announced that he will be a candidate for the Tolleson Union High School Governing Board.

“I have decided to run because of my true passion for ensuring that every student has an equal opportunity to a successful future,” said Del Palacio.

From 2007-2009, Del Palacio worked for the Department of Economic Security (DES). At DES he discovered his passion for helping those in need; while inspiring them to make a change in their lives and their communities.

As a biracial male with African American and Mexican heritage, growing up in central Phoenix, he was exposed to various ethnicities and cultures on a daily basis. It was the same passion that led Mr. Palacio to create the nonprofit organization of PHX United in November of 2011.

“It's time to raise the bar and focus on areas that contribute to student achievement, such as health and wellness, safety, and parental engagement," said Del Palacio. "We must all get fired up about education. Help me raise the bar, not just for our students, but also for our community!”

Del Palacio serves on various city and nonprofits boards such as the Maryvale Village Planning Committee, Maryvale YMCA and the Arizona Advocacy Network. He has also received recognition for his dedication towards improving the quality of living for everyone. In 2013, the Cesar Chavez Foundation honored Del Palacio for his commitment to beautifying inner-city neighborhoods.[6]

Scorecards

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
