Appropriations Committee, South Dakota House of Representatives
The Appropriations Committee is a standing committee of the South Dakota House of Representatives.
The House Appropriations Committee is made up of the House members serving on the Joint Appropriations Committee. House members on the joint appropriations committee are appointed in the same way as members are appointed to other standing House committees.
Per the House Rules, South Dakota House of Representatives committees are assigned by the Speaker of the House with the advice of the Minority Leader. The Speaker appoints the chair and vice chair of each committee. The Speaker and Speaker Pro Tempore serve on the Legislative Procedure Committee as chair and vice chair, respectively.[1] Quorum and the timing of assignments are not defined in the rules.

Function
The Legislator Reference Book defines the following subject areas for the Appropriations Committee:
“ | The general appropriation bill, which contains the budgets of all departments of state government; all bills for special appropriation of state revenues; and bills relating to the appropriation process.[2][3] | ” |
