William Hercules Hays (1820-1880) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of Kentucky.

He received a recess appointment from President Rutherford B. Hayes on September 6, 1879 and was nominated on December 1, 1879. He was confirmed by the Senate on December 10, 1879, and received commission that same day. He served until his death on March 7, 1880.
