Jessica Looman is a former Minnesota Commissioner of Commerce. She was first appointed to the position on November 17, 2017, by Gov. Mark Dayton (D) following the resignation of former commissioner Mike Rothman to run for state attorney general.[1] She left office in January 2019.

Biography

Prior to her appointment as commerce commissioner, Looman was the state's deputy commissioner of labor and industry, serving under Commissioner Ken Peterson. Looman had held that position since 2014, when she was promoted from the position of assistant commissioner of labor and industry. Looman first joined the state government in 2011; prior to that, she had spent 10 years as general counsel to the Laborers' District Council of Minnesota and North Dakota, a labor union.[2][3]
