An effort to recall Jackie Poplar from the Flint, Michigan city council was headed for the February 24, 2009 ballot after recall supporters turned in 928 valid signatures in support of the recall.[1][2]

However, in mid-January a judge tossed the recall effort from the ballot amidst allegations of irregularities in the signature collection process.[3]

The February 24 ballot was going to include a recall attempt against Mayor Don Williamson, but that was made unnecessary by Williamson's resignation on February 09, 2009. About 14,300 people signed his recall petition.

Poplar was accused by mayoral aide Sally Haywood and resident David Davenport of spraying them with bug spray after a Sept. 22 council meeting.[4]
