What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
Strong Advocacy for the People of the District Economic Development for the District Fiscal Responsibility in the State Budget
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
We have an aging infrastructure in the Commonwealth. My background of nearly thirty years in Civil Engineering gives me unique insight into this issue and the expertise needed in the State House of Representatives to create policy that will finally address this looming issue.
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
I look up to leaders who put their own interests aside for what they know is right and what is true. Abraham Lincoln is probably the most famous politician who did this, ultimately having his own life cut short for what was right.
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
The characteristics of service to others, being reasonable, being responsible, and being respectful are important to get things done in life, but particularly in the position of State Representative.
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
I believe that my ability to bring stakeholders together to build consensus and my relationships I already have in state government will help me be effective as a State Representative.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
Hard work and being accessible to the people your represent are the core responsibilities of this position.
What legacy would you like to leave?
I would like to leave a legacy of strong service to the communities that make up the district.
What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?
The first historical event that I remember were the Watergate hearings. I was only 4 or 5 years old and didn't understand why that was all there was on television.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
My first job outside of working for my family was for a neighbor farmer picking up baled hay for a summer. I was 13 years old, the bales were pretty heavy, and you only worked on the hottest days but I still loved it.
Do you believe it’s beneficial to build relationships with other legislators? Please explain your answer.
I believe it is critical to be able to build relationships in the legislature. Great bills will go nowhere if you do not have the support of your fellow members.
Both sitting legislators and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?
I had the opportunity to sit and talk to an elderly gentleman and his son in their yard while on the campaign trail. It was a very refreshing conversation on a beautiful day. At the end of our time together, the father told me he was on hospice care and was so thankful for them keeping him comfortable so he could enjoy his last days at home. He requested that I do what I can to make sure that Hospice and other programs that give our elderly citizens dignity and quality of life to the end are supported. I will not forget that man and his example of a thankful heart.

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
