My name is Austin Valentine Jr., and I am a 4th district native from Crittenden County, Kentucky. My parents raised me on a small family farm near the rural community of Sheridan. I attended Crittenden County Schools, graduating from CCHS in 1993. I am also a graduate of Murray State University with a Bachelor of Integrated Studies in Applied Sciences with an area in Computer Science. I also hold two minors, one in History and the other in Geographical Information Studies.

For most of my life, I was a self-employed general contractor who worked in the private, commercial, and government sectors up until August 2010 - when I became partially disabled. Since then, I have worked for both Crittenden and Livingston County Schools as a substitute teacher. I worked as a substitute until taking a job as an Academic Instructor at the Earle C. Clements Job Corps Training Academy in Morganfield, KY, in June of 2019. Currently, I am finishing up a Master of Arts in History online through South New Hampshire University while I teach at Earle C. Clements. My political goals are to provide teachers, state workers, and the working-class citizens a voice in the political arena.

First and foremost, I support the teachers, state workers, and the working-class citizens of Kentucky. I also support the second amendment and the pro-life movement. One of my biggest concerns is teacher's and state worker's pensions, which include accountability for the handling or mishandling of those funds. I am also a supporter of term limits for politicians. Representing others should be an honor, not a life-long career.
I look up to my parents and grandparents, who helped to shape me into the individual I am today. I could not choose any one specific person from this group, because each of them had a hand in how I turned out.
The most important job is to remember that you are there to represent those who elected you. Therefore, you are the collective voice of those people.
I feel that my knowledge of History will provide a valuable tool in assessing future legislation. Furthermore, my ability to conduct research and write skills should also prove as a valuable trait.
My very first job was assistant to the City Administrator, City of Marion, KY. This was a summer job that I did for two summers while I attended Murray State University.
The most important responsibility of the office I am seeking is the ability to represent the citizens in my district. I feel like it is time they have the voice of a true native from the 4th district in Frankfort.
This office, like any other job, can benefit from someone with prior knowledge of its inner-workings. However, prior knowledge seems to have lacked the ability to produce effective results for the people of Kentucky. Therefore, it appears to be time for a fresh face and new tactics.
I feel the most beneficial trait that one needs to possess is the ability to listen to the people whom they represent. This office, like any other elected position, is a job where you are the voice of those who elected you to speak on their behalf. Therefore, one needs to consider this when they seek such an elected endeavor.
