I am a NW native with family ties to pioneer era Central Oregon. While good luck and hard work combined for a comfortable life, I have not forgotten hard times of less comfort, including those spent supporting myself through high school.

I worked my way through Oregon State University as a wildland firefighter. After earning a BS in Forest Management I went on to complete a 30-year career with USDA Forest Service on the Ochoco National Forest here in Central Oregon.

As a forester I led interdisciplinary teams developing landscape level plans to improve ecosystem resiliency including timber harvest, wildlife habitat, stream restoration and many other aspects of resource management. I developed skills resolving complex problems and balancing competing interests through team work. During my career I saw firsthand how climate change is impacting our forests and deserts, streams and lakes.

Today, in retirement I am active in organizations promoting social, economic and environmental justice.

My husband Steve Lent and I raised our two children here in Crook County. We cherish the time we spend with our two grandchildren and love our home and community in Powell Butte and Prineville.
  • Our beautiful Central Oregon: Let's protect its natural wonders by doing our part to reduce climate change.
  • Freedom: In order to flourish everyone needs access to food, shelter, safety, education, healthcare and work.
  • Community: We understand the value of inclusion and diversity for building community and the importance of promises kept.
Our resource management problems are complex and balancing competing interests for increasingly scarce resources require hard work and cooperation. We urgently need to reduce our contribution to global warming. My background in natural resource management gives me the knowledge and experience to tackle these problems. I want to contribute to solutions for sustainable, living communities in harmony with our natural world.
I admire the smart, fierce, compassionate women in Congress: Elizabeth Warren, Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, Katie Porter, Rashida Tlaib, Kamila Harris, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and others. Also, Stacy Abrams. These are women who, realizing their own power, have dedicated themselves to public service. These are women who will make justice a reality for millions of Americans.
Honesty and Integrity.
A willingness to listen and understand different points of view. A willingness to continue learning broadly and deeply.
I would like to leave a greener, more sustainable Oregon, one with its abundance restored and available to all with equity. I want Oregon to be a place that welcomes the stranger.
Bob Dylan's The times they are a-changin'
The value of previous experience in government or politics depends on whether or not that experience included collaborative work with people of different perspectives. Or whether or not it broadened one's understanding of the issues affecting the various constituencies in the district and the state. It would certainly be helpful if previous experience flattened the learning curve of government systems and processes.

Public service means making a difference in people's lives and creating a better society. It's working for others, not yourself or your business. A public servant needs to recognize changing needs, circumstances and priorities so needs a broad understanding of local, state and national issues.
I support an amendment to the Oregon Constitution establishing an independent redistricting commission to adopt redistricting plans for state Senate, state House of Representatives and United States House of Representatives.
With my forestry background, I have the skills and knowledge to contribute to work done on the Natural Resource or Agriculture and Land Use Committees.
