Roberts defeated Donna Spring in the Democratic primary on July 27 by a margin of 3,665-3,343. Incumbent Johnnie Crutchfield (D) could not seek re-election due to term limits. Roberts was defeated by Frank Simpson (R) in the general election.[1][2][3][4]
