Douglas E. Miller is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. He was appointed to this position on November 3, 2009, and his current term expired on November 2, 2017.[1]

Education

Judge Miller earned his undergraduate degree from James Madison University in 1984, his master's degree from Syracuse University in 1989, and his J.D. degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary in 1995.[2]

Career

Judge Miller began his career as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Rebecca Beach Smith. He then became a lawyer in 1996. In November of 1998, he joined the law firm Patten, Wornom, Hatten & Diamonstein, where he worked until his judicial appointment in 2009.[2]
