Campaign themes
2016
Vanderpool's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Job Creation and Innovation The free market always operates best when it is free from government interference. Our economy has been driven by the ingenuity of small business owner's and their ability to adapt and innovate. It is critical that we protect this mobility and allow our economy to develop freely. Even though Denver has been growing at an incredibly fast pace, we need to ensure that we can maintain a good business atmosphere to continue to attract quality jobs. As the cost of living has increased in Denver, there is more importance than ever to nurture job growth. Responsible Government We need to be focused on common sense solutions and making the best use of the hard earned tax dollars already coming in. Streamlining government programs and getting more efficient has to be a priority. It is a simple philosophy; the government is not supposed to be in charge of our lives. We the people are supposed to be in charge of our government. We all must bear a greater load of individual responsibility and stop looking for the state to make decisions for us. Environment Since I was a child I have always loved the outdoors and will fight to protect the stunning beauty of our state. We are so blessed to have such grandeur and must be good stewards of the land. Individual Rights and Equality The state should not be in the business of differentiating between its citizens. We should all be equal in the view of the state. I am absolutely in favor of equal pay for equal work; regardless of gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation. Individual aptitude and work ethic should triumph over all factors. Eminent Domain Abuse Eminent domain has its place as a necessary evil to provide for critical public infrastructure. However, its use today is far exceeding what it was designed for. I vehemently oppose the use of eminent domain to allow politicians to steal private property to benefit private developers. This cannot be allowed this to continue.[1] |
