John supports a common sense approach to common core that challenges students without stigmatizing them. He will work to help all districts get the resources they need to provide safe and productive learning environments for our children and their teachers. John will work to ensure that our teachers are properly respected and cared for by the state they serve. He will work with teachers, parents, and students to provide the tools they need to keep our kids in school until they graduate and assist them in moving on to the higher education path of their choice."

Elections for the Oklahoma House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election took place on June 24, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 11, 2014. John M. Montgomery defeated Jesse R. Cross in the Republican primary, while John Dunaway was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Montgomery defeated Dunaway in the general election.[2][3][4]
