The Kentucky Local Government Fees and Sales Taxes Amendment was not on the ballot in Kentucky as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment on November 8, 2022.

The ballot measure would have allowed the state Legislature to authorize local governments to assess and collect fees. The ballot measure would also have required local sales taxes to be applied and administered in the same way as the state sales tax.[1]

In Kentucky, a 60% vote is required in both chambers of the Kentucky State Legislature to pass a constitutional amendment.

The constitutional amendment was introduced into the state Legislature as House Bill 475 (HB 475). On February 24, 2022, the House of Representatives voted 80 to 17 to pass HB 475. The constitutional amendment did not receive a third reading in the Senate before the legislature adjourned on April 14.[1]
