Campaign themes

2016

Czisny's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[3]

An economy that works for all of us

  • Excerpt: "Anyone who works hard and plays by the rules deserves a fair shot at the American dream. Yet, according to a recent Pew Institute study, Wisconsin’s middle class is shrinking faster than any other state’s. The best way to strengthen our economy is to once again allow our middle class to expand. But since Republicans have controlled state government, Wisconsin has ranked 32nd nationwide in job growth and dead last in business start-ups."

Education

  • Excerpt: "As a father, and as the husband of an educator, I believe that Wisconsin has an obligation to provide the best education possible to its citizens, from our young children, to teens, to young adults, and to people re-entering school in their adulthood. Investing in education is investing in our future. At the same time, we must be responsible in how we finance schools and colleges. We must focus spending on classroom resources. Making our schools better will attract people and businesses to our state, and will provide opportunities for sustainable, well-paying jobs. The course that our current legislature and governor have pursued, making the largest cuts to education in our state’s history, is penny wise and pound foolish."

Energy and the environment

  • Excerpt: "Too often, politicians claim that achieving energy independence and protecting our pristine resources are mutually exclusive goals. I reject that notion. By investing in and utilizing our outstanding research facilities, we can take the lead in developing clean energy that will reduce costs, end our dependency on foreign sources, and preserve our natural resources for future generations."
