  • As a citizen of the Inland Northwest and a constitutional conservative, I support congressional term limits and stand with the overwhelming majority of Idaho voters who believe that public service should be a duty, not a lifetime entitlement.
  • Civil disobedience is the willingness to accept the consequences of a law that violates our civil liberties. We have citizens in medical need hiding instead of accepting the consequences. If you want to reduce crime legalize cannabis. We will reduce crime by over 13% overnight.
  • Reducing poverty among this vulnerable group requires a multifaceted approach that goes beyond employment opportunities and social support. We must also address the economic barriers they face, particularly the significant cost of prescription medications, which often consumes a substantial portion of their limited income.
Ryan Wayne Augusta – Candidate for Idaho House, District 6A

As an HCA caregiver and veteran with 14 years of legislative experience, I’m running to build a more inclusive Idaho. My priorities are:

• Accessibility – Ensure all public meetings are inclusive with accommodations like captions, ASL, and virtual options.
• Senior Services – Build compassionate, age-friendly infrastructure and healthcare access.

• Economic Growth – Support small businesses, caregivers, and inclusive employment through training, grants, and cooperative models.
I look up to my British literature teacher, George Cowan, at FVCC. His passion for literature, his dedication to his students, and his ability to inspire curiosity left a lasting impact on me. He didn’t just teach texts; he taught us how to think critically, question deeply, and see the world from different perspectives. His example of thoughtful leadership, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to personal growth is something I strive to emulate in my own life and public service.
Compassion – Ryan Augusta emphasizes caregiving, senior services, and inclusion, showing that empathy and concern for others' well-being are central.

Accessibility – A strong commitment to making public life inclusive, especially for people with disabilities and seniors.

Service-Oriented Leadership – A lifetime of community service, from AmeriCorps to the Army Reserve to local volunteerism, reflects dedication to serving others.

Practical Optimism – The campaign promotes realistic, community-driven solutions with a hopeful vision for Idaho.

Integrity and Faith – The phrase “De Fidelis De Futuro – With Faith Is Our Future” underscores a foundation of trust, values, and moral conviction.
I believe my empathy, dedication, and experience would make me a successful officeholder. As a caregiver, I’ve learned to listen closely, understand others’ needs, and work tirelessly to help those who are vulnerable. This has taught me the importance of compassion and service, which are core values I would carry into public office.

My background in community engagement—from my time volunteering to starting a small business—has given me practical experience in problem-solving, collaboration, and finding creative solutions to local challenges. I understand the need for accountability and transparency in government, and I will work tirelessly to ensure that the voices of all constituents are heard.

Additionally, my commitment to lifelong learning and my ability to adapt will help me navigate the complexities of legislation and governance. I bring both a practical understanding of issues facing our district and a deep dedication to finding solutions that benefit everyone.
The core responsibilities of a State Representative are to listen, represent all voices, and create policies that serve the common good. This includes ensuring accessibility in government, supporting seniors and caregivers, promoting small business growth, and being a faithful steward of public trust. I believe in building bridges—bringing people together through practical solutions, inclusion, and service.
The legacy I hope to leave is one of service, compassion, and community building. I want to be remembered as someone who listened to the people, worked tirelessly for the most vulnerable, and strived to make Idaho a place where everyone feels included, heard, and supported.

Through my work in caregiving, volunteering, and advocating for seniors and individuals with disabilities, I hope to leave a lasting impact by ensuring that our systems and policies are more accessible, more compassionate, and more responsive to the needs of every resident. My goal is to create a legacy of connection, where people from all walks of life work together to build stronger, more resilient communities.
The first historical event I remember hearing about was the eruption of Mount Saint Helens in 1980. I was just one year old at the time, so I don’t have any direct memories of it. However, my mom often tells me how she had to put a mask over my face to protect me from the ash that filled the air. It's a vivid story in our family, and while I don't remember the event itself, it's still a part of my history and one of the first major events of my lifetime.
My very first job was as a dishwasher at The Lighter Side Restaurant in Montana. I worked there for about a year during high school. It was a fast-paced environment, and I learned a lot about responsibility, teamwork, and the value of hard work. That job taught me the importance of staying focused, even when the work seemed repetitive, and it instilled in me a deep respect for people in every role of a business, from the kitchen staff to the front-line workers.
My favorite book is the Bible, as I believe it is the living word. It offers timeless wisdom, guidance, and strength for everyday life, and its teachings have provided me with a foundation of faith and values. The Bible is not just a historical text; it’s a source of inspiration, offering comfort in times of hardship and direction when facing life’s challenges. Its messages of love, compassion, and justice are relevant to everyone, no matter where they are in life.
I would choose Charlie Gordon from Flowers for Algernon. His journey speaks to the heart of human dignity, the hunger for knowledge, and the deep desire to be seen and valued. Charlie’s story is about transformation—not just intellectual, but emotional and spiritual. His experience reminds us that true understanding and compassion go far beyond intelligence. Like Charlie, I believe in the power of empathy, growth, and advocating for those whose voices are often overlooked.
The last song that got stuck in my head was "Don’t Stop Believin’" by Journey. It’s one of those classic tunes that seems to pop into my mind whenever I need a little boost of energy or motivation. The upbeat rhythm and inspiring message remind me to keep pushing forward, no matter the challenges ahead!
One of the struggles I’ve faced in my life has been balancing personal responsibilities with my commitment to serving others. As a caregiver, I’ve learned that caring for others can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be physically and emotionally demanding. Finding the right balance between helping those who need support and maintaining my own well-being has sometimes been challenging.

However, this struggle has taught me valuable lessons about resilience, self-care, and the importance of setting boundaries while still being present for those who need me. It has made me more empathetic and understanding of the challenges others face in balancing their own lives, and it has shaped my approach to leadership—where I prioritize both individual needs and community health.
The ideal relationship between the governor and the state legislature should be one of mutual respect, accountability, and service to the people of Idaho. Each branch has its role, but both must work together in good faith to serve the public interest—especially on issues like healthcare, accessibility, economic development, and support for seniors and working families.

As a caregiver and veteran, I know the importance of listening first, acting with humility, and leading with service. The legislature should be a partner and a constitutional check—ensuring that executive decisions reflect the needs and values of the people.

We’re not here to build barriers—we’re here to build bridges. That’s the approach I’ll bring to every conversation in Boise.
Idaho faces several significant challenges over the next decade, including:

Affordable Healthcare and Senior Services: With a growing aging population and gaps in accessibility, we need to ensure seniors, caregivers, and individuals with disabilities have access to affordable healthcare and services. We must build systems that address long-term care, mental health, and preventive care for all.

Economic Development and Rural Access: While Idaho’s economy is growing, many rural communities lack access to the resources and infrastructure they need to thrive. Small businesses and local entrepreneurs should be supported, particularly those in caregiving and direct services, so we can cultivate a more sustainable, inclusive economy.

Education and Workforce Development: We must address the skills gap by strengthening our education system and providing greater access to vocational training, especially for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. A strong, diverse workforce will support Idaho’s growth in all sectors.

Environmental Sustainability: As our state grows, we need to protect our natural resources and promote responsible land use that supports both our environment and communities.

Over the next decade, we must prioritize building bridges, not barriers, to create a more inclusive, prosperous, and sustainable Idaho for everyone.
While previous experience in government or politics can provide useful knowledge, it is not the only path to effective leadership. What matters most is the ability to listen to the people, act with integrity, and focus on solutions that serve the common good. My experience as a caregiver, volunteer, veteran, and small business owner has given me a deep understanding of the needs of everyday Idahoans.

I believe the most effective legislators are those who bring fresh perspectives and a commitment to service, rather than those who are bound by the status quo. My approach will be rooted in the principles of accessibility, inclusivity, and practical solutions, and I’m ready to bring that spirit of service to the Capitol.
Yes, building relationships with other legislators is essential for effective governance. Collaboration is key to creating meaningful, sustainable policies that benefit all Idahoans. While each legislator brings their own perspective, working together allows us to find common ground, share ideas, and develop solutions that address the needs of our communities.

As a caregiver and volunteer, I know that building trust and mutual respect is vital to achieving goals and overcoming challenges. I’ll work to foster relationships with my colleagues, regardless of party affiliation, to ensure we prioritize the well-being of the people we serve. Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive Idaho.
I greatly admire Max Baucus for his commitment to bipartisanship, his focus on public service, and his ability to work across party lines to enact meaningful change. Baucus’ work on healthcare reform and his deep understanding of the needs of rural communities are particularly inspiring to me. Like Baucus, I aim to prioritize the needs of Idaho’s people over political divisions, bringing practical solutions to the table.

Baucus’ emphasis on accessibility, collaboration, and effective policy is something I strive to embody in my own approach to leadership. I want to ensure that, like him, I work diligently to advocate for all constituents, especially those who often go unheard.
At this time, my primary focus is on serving the people of District 6A in the Idaho House of Representatives. I believe there’s much work to be done at the state level, particularly when it comes to supporting caregivers, advocating for seniors, and ensuring that our communities are heard and served.

While I remain committed to being a public servant, my current focus is entirely on improving Idaho's policies and building a more inclusive, accessible, and thriving state. I’m dedicated to listening to my constituents and working on the issues that matter most to them, here in our community.
Both sitting legislators and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?

One story that deeply resonated with me came from a senior woman who had spent decades caring for her husband after a stroke. When her health began to decline, she found it incredibly difficult to access the care she needed, both for herself and her spouse. As a caregiver, she was overwhelmed, but the systems designed to support her felt out of reach or insufficient.

This story is not unique—I've heard similar struggles many times, both as a caregiver myself and through my work volunteering and helping others in our community. It reinforced my belief that we need to create more comprehensive, accessible, and compassionate support systems, especially for seniors and caregivers who dedicate their lives to others.

It also reminds me of my own experiences as a caregiver, where I saw firsthand the importance of having a support network in place. No one should feel forgotten, and we need to build systems that provide both emotional and practical support to those who give so much to others.
Why did the scarecrow win an award?

Because he was outstanding in his field!
Yes, the legislature should play an active role in overseeing the use of emergency powers. While emergencies often require quick, decisive action, it is essential that those actions are transparent and subject to checks and balances. The legislature, as the elected voice of the people, should be involved in approving or reviewing emergency powers to ensure they are being used appropriately and in the best interest of the public.

During times of crisis, we need to ensure that our government remains accountable to the people it serves. No one branch should have unchecked authority, especially in situations where citizens’ rights and freedoms could be impacted. Oversight and review by the legislature provide necessary accountability while ensuring that emergency powers are not abused or extended beyond what is necessary for public safety.
If elected, the first bill I would introduce would focus on improving access to healthcare for seniors and individuals with disabilities in District 6 and across Idaho. This bill would aim to create a statewide framework for expanding access to senior services, caregiving support, and mental health resources—all underpinned by measurable outcomes for success.

I would propose the creation of regional care networks that would ensure seniors and individuals with disabilities can access healthcare services, in-home care, and mental health resources more easily. These networks would be supported by local partnerships between healthcare providers, caregivers, and community organizations, with key metrics to track service use, wait times, and health outcomes.

I believe this bill would provide immediate, measurable benefits to our district, especially for those who often feel left out of state policy decisions. Additionally, I would ensure that it includes annual reporting on how well these networks are performing and how they are improving access to care—making sure that there is ongoing accountability.

Given my background as a certified HCA caregiver and my years of experience serving in community roles, this issue is deeply personal to me. This bill is also realistic and achievable because it builds on existing community resources and works to create sustainable, long-term solutions for vulnerable populations.
Given my experience in caregiving, veteran support, and community-based development, I’m most interested in serving on committees that directly impact everyday Idahoans. These include:

Health & Welfare – To advocate for seniors, caregivers, and individuals with disabilities, and help craft policies that expand access to inclusive and compassionate healthcare services.

Commerce & Human Resources – To support small business development, caregiver-led enterprises, and worker protections—especially for those in direct care and support roles.

Education – To encourage partnerships between schools and local businesses and promote vocational training, especially for underserved and neurodiverse populations.

State Affairs – To ensure ethical governance, improve public accessibility, and strengthen Idaho’s accountability to its people.
I believe financial transparency and government accountability are essential to rebuilding public trust. As a caregiver, veteran, and community advocate, I know how important it is for people to feel confident that their tax dollars are being used responsibly and that public officials are serving the common good—not private interests.

Government should lead by example: transparent budgets, open communication, and clear reporting. That includes making public records easily accessible, ensuring contracts and spending reflect community priorities, and holding elected officials and agencies accountable for their actions.

In my own life—from managing a local LLC to serving in AmeriCorps and supporting community events—I’ve practiced transparency, ethical decision-making, and personal accountability. As your representative, I would bring that same integrity to the Capitol.
While I have not yet publicly stated a specific position on changes to Idaho's state ballot initiative process, I firmly believe that any reform should prioritize inclusivity, transparency, and accessibility for all Idahoans. As someone who has dedicated much of my life to caregiving and community service, I am deeply committed to ensuring that every voice, especially those of seniors, individuals with disabilities, and underrepresented communities, has the opportunity to be heard in the legislative process.

If elected, I will advocate for reforms that ensure the ballot initiative process remains open, clear, and easy to navigate for all citizens. I believe it is crucial that the process be a true reflection of the people’s will, and that it remains a tool for meaningful public participation in shaping Idaho's laws and policies.

Furthermore, I will support measures that improve the accessibility of the initiative process, including language and resource support for voters and organizers, ensuring that all Idahoans have an equal opportunity to engage in our democracy.

  • Hello, I'm Ryan Wayne Augusta, and I am running for the Idaho House of Representatives - District 6A. My journey as a dedicated HCA Caregiver and an Independent non-partisan candidate has shaped my focus on key issues that deeply impact our community. Accessibility and Inclusivity in Public Meetings is a priority. As an HCA Certified In-Home Caregiver, I firmly believe that we can reduce poverty and increase inclusion by providing reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities. My experience has taught me the importance of approaching these challenges with a compassionate mindset, grounded in the lived experiences of those navigating our less than equitable infrastructure.
  • Accessibility and Inclusivity in Public Meetings - Providing accommodations for people with disabilities in public meetings. -Implement real-time captioning and sign language interpretation for all public meetings. -Ensure all meeting venues are physically accessible, including ramps, elevators, and hearing loops. -Facilitate virtual participation options to include those unable to attend in person due to disabilities. •Aging and Senior Services - Senior-friendly infrastructure. -Advocate for the development of age-friendly public spaces that promote safety and accessibility. -Support policies that ensure affordable and comprehensive healthcare services for seniors. -Promote community-based programs.
Dear Residents of Latah, Lewis, and Nez Perce Counties,

I am honored to address you as a write-in candidate for our State Representative seat A of District 6. Our community is at a crossroads where the health and well-being of the population intersect with the imperative need for progressive cannabis legislation. This announcement highlights the critical parallels between cannabis legislation and the need for empathy driven wellness plans within our community.

In 2010, I was privileged to participate in the 'Hemp Offers People Everything' event in Julia Davis Park, Boise, Idaho. During this event, I had the unexpected opportunity to step in as an emcee, shouting, "Welcome to Boiiiiiise HOPE Fest!"
What sets Ryan apart is his unwavering dedication to listening to the people he seeks to represent. He values your input and is committed to being a responsive and accessible representative. Ryan is not just a candidate; he is a neighbor, a friend, and a champion for all residents of District 6. As we look toward the future, we need leaders like Ryan Wayne Augusta—leaders who are not afraid to tackle tough issues, who have the integrity to do what is right, and who are dedicated to building a stronger, more vibrant community for all.
This moment ignited my ongoing commitment to advocacy, highlighting the urgent need for awareness and change.

While sidewalk chalking downtown Boise an officer thanked me, this is what he said, "No officer wants to arrest a Grandmother in their home for self medicating, so they choose not to enforce the law. This weakens the justice system. By building legislation that supports those individuals you are making the justice system stronger. Thanks," - Boise Police 2011.
The dichotomy discovered that day rang ironic bells of truth. We make satirical humor about people that have chosen to consume a plant. Untrue and unchallenged for fear of retribution citizens conform to the placated joke that has been conveyed by a status quo.

Civil disobedience is stated to be the acceptance of consequences for a law that violates ones civil liberties. Our communuty is actively choosing to be disobedient instead of accepting unreasonable consequences. This struggle will produce long term unintended affects that we are choosing to ignore.
