Campaign themes

2017

Spang's campaign website listed the following themes for 2017:

Sandy’s plan to implement an innovative and transparent process for budget reform is the cornerstone of her platform. The priority-based budget she proposes will:

  • Replace an incomprehensible line item budget with one that identifies the individual programs the city is operating
  • Determine the actual cost to citizens for each program
  • Apply metrics to measure the efficiency & effectiveness of individual programs
  • Engage Toledoans in the process of aligning city spending with the priorities of the community

Sandy has experienced first-hand that vibrant small businesses enhance the quality of life in a community. She will encourage small business development in every neighborhood in Toledo.

A modern and well-maintained infrastructure is a fundamental responsibility of elected officials. Wise decisions need to be made to address deferred maintenance of our water treatment facilities, roads and bridges.

The future of Toledo depends upon the decisions we make now. Sandy knows that the same actions that will make life safer and more enjoyable for Toledo’s citizens will also make it a city that is attractive to outside investment and development.[7][8]
