Mann made the following statement to Ballotpedia regarding his political philosophy:[1]
“ |
Do you believe that our political system is rigged? That the fix is in or it’s who you know. It is clear that the ethical character of some in government are at best challenged, broken at the worst. Reviews of our political leader’s financial contributions show how deep a relationship exists between the career politician and Political Action Committees (PACs). Our children must not believe that our democracy is for sale. Hawaii Island, and Hawaii State District 6, must have an ethical, tested leader with the financial education to ensure our government is solvent. Every day, 22 veterans commit suicide. Hawaii and Hawaii Island veterans make up a large number, and most 50% of the homeless living here in Hawaii. These are those same heroes’ who you see and say, “Thanks for your service.”. We only give bandages to these homeless war fighters. We have no place for them to sleep safe at night. We don’t provide psychiatric and social service that could be kindly described as humane. When we see the homeless, they are veterans, they are brother, they are our families, but a government, we are failing. Every day on Alii Drive when I walk see many familiar facies. They are on the move from Kailua to Hilo, traveling the circuit, looking for a place to rest. I see them when they come into town, and notice when they are gone. Each face so different, with stories to tell. They have lives and made choices I don’t understand. I don’t know if they are a veteran when we first speak, but I do know this. We are Hawaii Island and love of the land and its people is our legacy. I ask you support me, and elect me for you House District 6 representative [2] |
