Richardson ran for North Carolina Commissioner of Labor in 2012. He lost to John C. Brooks and Marlowe Foster in the May 8 Democratic primary.[1] Incumbent Cherie Berry was unopposed in the Republican primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.
