Thorson ran in the 2012 election for Wisconsin State Assembly District 86. He was defeated by 2010 District 70 Republican nominee John Spiros in the Republican primary on August 14, 2012. Dennis Halkoski ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. Incumbent Republican Jerry Petrowski won a seat in the State Senate in the June 5, 2012 recall elections.[1] The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[2]
