Bainter ran in the 2012 election for Illinois State Senate District 46. Bainter lost to incumbent David Koehler and James Polk in the Democratic primary on March 20, 2012. Pat Sullivan ran unopposed in the Republican primary. The general election took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2][3]
