Trent Ashby (Republican Party) is a member of the Texas House of Representatives, representing District 9. He assumed office on January 10, 2023. His current term ends on January 12, 2027.

Ashby (Republican Party) is running for election to the Texas State Senate to represent District 3. He declared candidacy for the Republican primary scheduled on March 3, 2026.[source]

Ashby also ran for re-election to the Texas House of Representatives to represent District 9. He will not appear on the ballot for the general election on November 3, 2026.

Biography

Trent Ashby was born in Rusk County, Texas, and lives in Lufkin. Ashby graduated from Henderson High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in agricultural economics from Texas A&M University in 1996. His career experience includes working as a legislative aide at the U.S. House of Representatives, president/CEO of the Texas Forest Country Partnership, and president of Community Title Co.[1][2]

Those candidates who did not receive 50 percent or more of the vote in their party primary on March 4 faced an additional May 27 primary runoff. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in these elections was December 9, 2013. Incumbent Trent Ashby was unopposed in the Republican primary and was unchallenged in the general election.[7][8][9]

Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
