- According to The New York Times, George Pataki "approved billions of dollars in new pension benefits for government workers after lobbying from politically connected unions."[2] However, Pataki supported Andrew Cuomo's efforts to reform public pensions by offering a 401(k)-type retirement benefit or reduced pension benefits to new employees.[3]
- During Pataki's tenure as governor, New York had more than 600,000 new jobs enter the state, and the lowest unemployment rate on record.[4][5]
