Louisiana held an election for secretary of state on November 18, 2023. The primary was October 14, 2023. The filing deadline was August 10, 2023.

Louisiana elections use the majority-vote system. All candidates compete in the same primary, and a candidate can win the election outright by receiving more than 50 percent of the vote. If no candidate does, the top two vote recipients from the primary advance to the general election, regardless of their partisan affiliation.

Nancy Landry won election in the general election for Louisiana Secretary of State.

On April 11, 2023, incumbent Kyle Ardoin announced he would not running for re-election.[1] Ardoin became acting secretary on May 9, 2018, following the resignation of former Secretary Tom Schedler. Schedler left office on May 8, 2018, due to allegations of sexual misconduct. Ardoin won election to the remainder of Schedler's term in November 2018.
