Janet Cannon
Janet Cannon (Republican Party) was a member of the Utah State Board of Education, representing District 8. She assumed office in 2017. She left office on January 2, 2023.
Cannon (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the Utah State Board of Education to represent District 6. She lost in the Republican convention on April 23, 2022.
Biography
Prior to her election to the state board, Cannon was the chair of the nominating committee for the State Institutional Trust Lands Board. She has also served as area director for western states at the National Association of State Boards of Education and as a member of the state's Board of Regents.[1]
Political career
Utah State Board of Education (1999-2013, 2017-2022)
Cannon was first elected to the state board in November 1998 and took office in January 1999. Cannon secured re-election in each election year until 2012, when she was not selected to appear on the ballot.[2] Cannon was elected to the board again in November 2016 and took office in January 2017.
