David Pethtel
David Pethtel (Democratic Party) was a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, representing District 5. He assumed office in 1998. He left office on December 1, 2022.
Pethtel (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the West Virginia House of Delegates to represent District 5. He won in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Pethtel served in the West Virginia House of Delegates from 1988 to 1994 and again from 1998 to the present. He served as an Assistant Majority Whip from 2001 to 2014. As of January 28, 2019, he served as an Assistant Minority Whip in the House of Delegates.[1]
Biography
Pethtel earned his AB from Glenville State College in 1973. He went on to receive his M.A. from West Virginia University in 1977. Pethtel has been an Educator for the Wetzel County Board of Education since 1973.[2]

Elections for the West Virginia House of Delegates took place in 2014. A primary election took place on May 13, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was January 25, 2014. Incumbent David Pethtel was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Mary Kay Milliken was unopposed in the Republican primary. Pethtel defeated Milliken in the general election.[7]

Pethtel won re-election in the 2012 election for West Virginia House of Delegates, District 5. Pethtel ran unopposed in the May 8 primary election and defeated Raymond V. Davis, III (Mountain) and Denzil W. Sloan (C) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[8][9][10]
2010
Pethtel was re-elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates District 5 in the November 2, 2010, general election. He defeated Democrat Ronald L. Anderson in the May 11 primary. He was unopposed in the November 2, 2010 general election.[11][12]
