The city of Kansas City, Missouri, held nonpartisan elections for mayor and city council on June 23, 2015. A primary election took place on April 7, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was January 13, 2015. All 12 city council seats were up for election.[1][2]

In the race for the District 2 seat, Dan Fowler was unopposed. Bill Super was previously on the ticket, but he withdrew from the race on March 4, 2015.[3] Incumbent Russ Johnson was ineligible to run for re-election due to term limits.[4]

Decision to self-quarantine for coronavirus on March 18, 2020

Fowler, along with five other Kansas City Council members, including Eric Bunch and Ryana Parks-Shaw, were self-quarantined after two council members were informed that might have been exposed to coronavirus after attending a conference for city leaders in Washington D.C.[5]
