Campaign themes
2014
Dawald's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]
Medicaid Expansion / Obamacare
- Excerpt: "I believe that it is not designed to provide healthcare, but instead it is to be used as a method of control by the federal government. I promise to do everything I can do to repeal and replace this law with common sense legislation that will serve Arizona’s healthcare needs while ensuring a prosperous Arizona by maintaining a sensible budget."
Border Security / Illegal Immigration
- Excerpt: "We must take action to stop the flow of drugs by the cartels, the human trafficking and the terrorists who are infiltrating our borders with the goal of creating death and destruction within our country."
Common Core / Education
- Excerpt: "I believe that Common Core is a system devised by the government to stifle independent thinking; I believe that it is as destructive to education as Obamacare is to healthcare. We must guard against the “nationalism” of education AND our healthcare. I will do everything in my power to safeguard both."
Jobs / Economic Growth
- Excerpt: "An inviting environment in the state is needed to appeal to big business to relocate here. A system of effectively communicating the many positives that Arizona has to offer must be developed and implemented quickly. Economic growth is vital to a solid, secure future for LD8 and the great State of Arizona."
Second Amendment
- Excerpt: "I stand with the Constitution of the United States and will fervently defend the right of every citizen to bear arms. History shows that many nations who have been disarmed have suffered tyranny and worse. I believe that resorting to tyranny is easy for a government without morals and character."
