My name is David Boden and for the last 20 years, I have lived in New Creek, WV and consider myself lucky to have such a great family and some awesome friends. I love it here. It is a good place to live, but a hard place to find work. Like many in Mineral County, I make a nearly 2-hour-round-trip-trek (and somedays nearly 3-hours) from home to work. I don’t complain, as I know others who have it much tougher.

Throughout the last twenty years, I have served as: • VP of Marketing and Advertising at the Cumberland Times-News • Publisher of the Mineral Daily News Tribune • Keyser Little League Manager & Board Member • President of The Mineral County Development Authority • New Creek Public Service District Board Member • Member of the Mineral County Chamber • 2012 Keynote Speaker at the J. Edward Kelley Award Ceremony • A member of the Keyser Lions Club Additionally, I currently serve as: • General Manager of the Garrett County Republican & the Preston County News and Journal • Volunteer PA Announcer of the Keyser High School Boys & Girls Basketball Teams and Keyser High Golden Tornado Football Games • Member & past board member of Keyser Moose Lodge 662

  • When elected, I will always endorse and vote for bills that are good for Mineral County residents and will support bills without regard to which party writes or sponsors the legislation. To be sure I am not going to Charleston to do battle with the opposing party or to follow some kind of a plan to ensure a successful rise to the top rungs of the political ladders in Charleston.
  • As your District 87 Delegate, I will be the most easily accessible delegate in the entire state of West Virginia. I will always be a quick phone call or email away during the legislative session and throughout the entire year. I may just even may call for your thoughts on upcoming votes and legislative matters. I will not just be your District 87 Delegate; I will be your voice in Charleston.
  • I believe that every bill should stand on its own two feet and that it should be voted on its own merits and never as a part of all inclusive omnibus bills that hides legislators votes and true feelings from the public .
The two areas that I am most passionate about are Public Education and Economic Development. I also believe that the two go hand in hand. If you do any research on economic development, you will find that most experts believe that education along with entrepreneurship and physical infrastructure are key components needed to create sustainable economic growth in rural America. West Virginians should expect legislators to provide everything need to create the best public education system in the United States. As our state would climb the education ranks, companies and corporations would be more likely to invest in West Virginia and even or most rural counties.
For the first fifteen years of my life, I lived in six different states and even spent third and fourth grade living in Morocco. I am proud to say that my father was a 21-year veteran of the United States Navy, and my mother was a great Navy wife who enjoyed the journey. My dad and mom were great Americans and both tough, hard working people. I learned my love of sports from my dad who was also a great outdoorsman. I also learned my love for freedom and America from my parents. My dad once told me to always do my best and always set out to lead others by example. My dad believed if you do good you will be rewarded and sometimes the journey is more rewarding than the destination. My father suffered from Alzheimer's and Dementia and passed after a hard battle with COVID-19 in January of 2021. A year later, I have decided to run for the West Virginia House of Delegates. I know he is looking down at me and smiling and if he could talk to me he would say, "Get it hell, buck!"
One should always remember where you come from and what drove them to run for office. Stay true and honest when voting. Remember it's not your vote, that vote you cast belongs to your constituents.
1) Truthful and Honest

2) Determined
3) Outstanding Communication Skills
4) Posses the ability to bring people together, organize, and lead

5) Self-Deprecating
These five things:

1) Always remember that you are representing your constituents.
2) Always remember that you are representing your constituents.
3) Always remember that you are representing your constituents.
4) Always remember that you are representing your constituents.

5) Always remember that you are representing your constituents.
I left the world that I was connected with in a better place than before I was there. But, most of all I would like people to say someday that, "we could all be a little more like Dave."
I was 16 years old on the night that John Lennon was shot. I learned two things from that event. The first being that life is precious and treat every new day as a gift and try and make it better that the day before. This event also really magnified the fact that evil does exist in the world and to always be cautious, on guard, and prepared to defend myself. In hindsight, I realize that a celebrity should never have caused me to be as upset as I was. At 59 years old now, I have lost my mother and father and some beautiful relatives and friends that are still very much a part of me. Celebrities fade away but family and friends last forever.
After college, for ten years, I worked successfully in the automotive industry and for the majority that time, I sold Chrysler-Plymouths in an area where there we seven other Chrysler-Plymouth dealers in a 15-mile radius. Certain not the job that I dream of when I left college and certainly not even the easy path in that business, but I was fortunate to do well and have dealers who recognized my ability to manage and lead, while providing me with the opportunity to learn on the job.
Mean Joe Greene: Built By Football
I am a huge Steeler Fan and this gentlemen was the force that drove the NFL's worst franchise into becoming one of the most revered.
Major John Reisman (played by Lee Marvin) the man who selected, trained, organized, and lead the "Dirty Dozen" to their successful mission is a classic WWII era movie.
Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen. It has been stuck in my head for about 45 years now!
My biggest struggle is getting home on time. I just keep my head down and dig. Often times I lose track of time. I am getting better at shutting it down and getting home, but there is always room for improvement.
Both the governor and the legislature must always keep in mind those that they represent. The governor should be a reflection of the entire state of West Virginia, while each legislator should be the eyes, ears, and voice of the district. Having stated this, all need to appreciate the other's position when crafting legislation for all West Virginians.
Economic development in the rural counties that do not have four lane high ways running through them remains a large issue in West Virginia. The overwhelming majority of our counties fall into this category. These counties do not have have the clout and power to push for themselves in Charleston and that is why it is imperative that their delegate is their voice at the state capital.
Without party affiliations, representatives would benefit from caucusing with others of similar economic strength and weaknesses. I think many representatives would find it easier to represent their constituents without having to consider party leader expectations and the repercussions of going against the leads and wishes of party leaders.
Absolutely not. I am all for term limits. Nobody should be trying to make a career of holding a particular public office or with goals of rising within their political party ranks.
Absolutely and damn which side of the aisle someone resides. If the same people are either for or with you on every vote.... the system is failing. Party-first-mentalities often times silences the voice of constituents.
I believe that 3 or 4 people should NOT be calling all of the shots. I would like to see constituents have a part in these redistricting decisions. Before districts are finalized, a public meeting should be held a the courthouses of each county and the comments of constituents should be considered.
I have not given it much thought. My goal is not to do more than 3 or 4 terms as a delegate. I am a proponent of term limits. I might consider County Commissioner one day.
The stories that I have heard from every volunteer fireman are amazing to me. What these people do out of love for community on their neighbors is the very definition of public service and honor. God bless each and every one of them who volunteer to save lives and property.
There is not one in particular one.
I most definitely believe that compromise and consensus are not "4-Letter-Words." For West Virginia and Mineral County to move forward, we need to realize that there are more than one way to reach our collective goals.
