Campaign themes

2014

Sobieski's website highlighted the following campaign themes:

Jobs, Business and the Economy

As a small business owner I watched how cuts in aid to local government exploded my commercial property taxes. Any successful business owner knows that you invest in people and equipment to grow your market share. I want to see smart partnership where our children are taught trades that will rebuild our middle class. That means directed learning and smart improvements to rural infrastructure. Broadband access, improving farm to market roads, job training specific to business partnerships.

Education
I have a 12 year old and a 10 year old. A new five year program won’t work for me or for you. We need great educations at all levels. Rural educators are faced with a number of challenges. Our children deserve the same education that the affluent metro schools enjoy. We and our children are not second class citizens.

Veterans
Transportation and the distance are two major barriers for Veterans in rural Minnesota. I will work toward getting a home and health care facility built. Aging and long term care is also a growing need for our Veterans. I see this challenge as an opportunity. Minnesota is a leader in health care and if our attention were focused on this issue we could be a pioneer for new care.

Guns and the Environment
I have grown up with guns. My family has been blessed with the opportunity to deer hunt on the family farm. We have had a bounty of nice bucks and have shared laughter and stories over warm caramel rolls and coffee on many a season opener. We have been given a tremendous gift of natural resources; we have pristine walleye lakes, and forests. We enjoy clean water and clean air. And like the good book says. We are to be good stewards of the earth.[1][2]
