Philadelphia, Pennyslvania, hosted the 2016 Convention during the week of July 25, 2016. DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) provided the following reason for the decision: "Philadelphia's strength in particular was the proximity of their arena and venue to the hotel rooms."[1]
