Hello, I'm Herman "Drew" Andrews, a father, community consultant, and veteran who served 21 years in the U.S. Army. Since my retirement from the Army, I have been a community advocate with more than 18 years of experience serving underserved communities and marginalized individuals. I am running to chart a new course translating my continuing passion for community building and serving others as your next State Senator for district 34. I am running as a visible and viable "Community Senator", one who will work collaboratively with community, state, county and local municipalities beyond the 40-day legislative session to help improve the quality of life for everyone.
  • I have been listening to you... I understand and share your needs.
  • We need a leader who is proactive, deeply connected to the needs of the people, and committed to advocating for them at every level of government.
  • We need a leader that is visible, viable, one who inspires engagement and drives positive change... that leader is me!
I will...
  • Advocate for expanding senior services
  • Champion criminal justice reform
  • Work to advance legislation for Medicaid expansion
  • Continue to promote strategies for affordable housing
  • Aid in the advancement of the living wage
  • Continue to support funding public education and strategies to improve schools
  • Continue to work on boosting youth workforce development
We deserve a leader who demonstrates:

Empathy
Integrity

Transparency
I believe elected leaders core responsibilities are to provide oversight and transparency in government operations. Also, advocate for the needs and interest for all people.
My very first job was as a paperboy, riding my bike and delivering newspapers to people's homes each morning before school. I held that job for about 2 years, before my family relocated to another state.
Thousands of Georgians continue to be evicted from their place of residence. I met a single mother with five children who was experiencing homelessness due to an eviction. The mother is battling stage 4 cancer but was missing her chemo and radiation treatments because she was focusing more on finding a place for her family to live than her treatment. This is a tragic example of how the lack of affordable housing and healthcare is hurting Georgia families.

Herman “Drew” Andrews is a retired veteran who served in the Army for 21 years. During his service, he participated in many humanitarian missions helping underdeveloped countries around the world with healthcare and community development.

He is now a community organizer who speaks out against voter suppression, wage stagnation, poor healthcare, and discrimination in any form. He is also an advocate for small business and entrepreneurs and assists in creating financial and coaching opportunities to help them grow within their communities. Drew also continues to address Police Reform and Accountability in our communities, and has been recognized for his outstanding work to end injustices occurring in the community. Currently, Drew serves on the Board of Directors for several organizations such as: Clayton County Economic Development Authority (DACC), The Friends of Clayton County Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), and The Atlanta Policing Alternative Diversion Initiative (PAD). Drew is a graduate of Wayland Baptist University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Healthcare Administration. He has also earned an MBA in Marketing from Clark Atlanta University. Drew is a successful entrepreneur and serves as an Advertising, Marketing, and Political Consultant as well as speaks nationally.

  • I imagine a Clayton County where opportunity for all people is the common denominator that bridges the equity gap between community growth and development.
  • I stand for the hard-working men and women of this community who work multiple jobs to make ends meet. I stand for single parents raising children alone and balancing a career and young people that want to become entrepreneurs but need a little encouragement
  • My goal is to create policies that help bring our education system to the 21st-century, build infrastructure and services that improve the quality of life for an aging population, and eliminate barriers to employment for our underemployed.
* Economic Development

  • Healthcare

  • Education

  • Community Policing
