Campaign themes
2014
Olesh's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[2]
Small Businesses
- Excerpt: " I will support legislation that removes the 'inventory tax' small businesses have to pay in West Virginia. This will allow entrepreneurs to carry more products in their stores without worrying about over taxation."
Taxes
- Excerpt: "I will support legislation to cut state spending and I vow to cut the people’s taxes. It’s money you earned, what right does the state have to it?"
Increased Freedom with Taxes
- Excerpt: "I will introduce legislation that allows the taxpayer to fill out a simple notice indicating which state programs he or she wants to fund with a portion of their taxes. This would also give us data points on what taxpayers prefer to fund; using this information, we can cut programs that no one wants."
Coal
- Excerpt: "I support responsible mining for coal! It’s what keeps the lights on and cell phones charged in this area."
The Environment
- Excerpt: " I want to give decisions regarding environmental protection back to the people by instating Common law in relation to the environment. What this will accomplish is empowering those most directly affected by pollution."
