  • It's time to turn the page and hear from fresh voices.
  • Only together can we leave for future generations an IOWA better than the one left to us.
  • We must set aside corrosive partisan bickering and posturing and focus on today's challenges.
-Protect our government institutions which are the foundation of our democracy and restore civility and trust across party lines

-Make sure our schools are adequately funded and that EVERY child has access to a high quality education
-Assure greater access to affordable health care, including mental health and maternity services, especially in rural areas

-Improve water quality and protect the environment for future generations
I look up to my grandfather on my mother's side. He was working man-a miner-and devoted to his family. He was the most self-less man I've ever known and he had the ability to see from someone else's perspective. I spent two weeks with him in Arizona the summer I turned fourteen. One night on the evening news, a featured story was about illegal immigrants coming across the border from Mexico. When it was done, he turned to me and remarked that "those men aren't doing anything that I wouldn't do to feed, and take care of my family." I think he respected their sacrifice and dedication to family. I've never forgotten that.
