E. Scott Frost was a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. He was first appointed in 2011.[1]

On March 15, 2016, President Barack Obama (D) nominated Frost to serve as an Article III federal judge on the same court.[2] On January 3, 2017, Frost's nomination was returned to President Obama at the sine die adjournment of the 114th Congress.[3]

Early life and education

Judge Frost was born in 1962. He received his B.B.A. degree from Angelo State University in 1984 and his J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1987.[1]

President Obama nominated Frost to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas on March 15, 2016, to serve as an Article III federal judge. Obama stated, regarding Frost and five other nominees, "Throughout their careers, these nominees have displayed unwavering commitment to justice and integrity ... Their records are distinguished and impressive, and I am confident that they will serve the American people well from the United States District Court bench. I am honored to nominate them today."

The American Bar Association rated Frost Unanimously Well Qualified for the nomination.[4]

Hearings on Frost's nomination were held before the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary on September 7, 2016.[5]

On January 3, 2017, Frost's nomination was returned to President Obama at the sine die adjournment of the 114th Congress.[3]
