Scott Knighten was a 2016 Republican candidate for District 25 of the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

Campaign themes

2016

Knighten's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

  • Represent the interests of District 25.
  • Work with other legislators and consult experts to find budgetary stability in year one (without unduly hurting the poor), and then work on a path to prosperity year two.
  • Fund education, healthcare, infrastructure, and other needed services year one to at least pre-revenue failure levels. We need to take care of our citizens and keep people employed.
  • Find ways to encourage additional manufacturing and high technology/innovation driven businesses to move into Oklahoma. Help diversify the economy with more than just low wage jobs.
  • I am a believer in Constitutional principles. Freedom of the press, freedom of religion, and the right to bear arms are cornerstones of our republic. We must not let anyone at the local, state, or federal levels erode what our armed forces have died to protect.
  • I have deep roots in District 25, and I am not beholden to outside influences. I am the only candidate for the HD25 seat who is actually from the disctrict, and I have no intention of forgetting the local community while at the Capitol. I understand the local communities, and I would be dedicated to representing them.[1]
