I was born and raised in southwest Ohio. Married in 1974, my wife Donna and I moved several times because of work, one time even taking us to Saginaw, Michigan. In 1993, my job moved us once again, this time to West Virginia. After a few years, the job left, but we stayed. We’d fallen in love with West Virginia, its people, its mountains, and its opportunities. After 30+ years of living in West Virginia, we consider this our home. We’re not native, but we are West Virginians.

In January of 2010, I started my own company, Reliant Drug Test Solutions, providing services to businesses, schools, and the public. I currently employ 4 full-time employees, most of which have been with me for over 7 years.

In 2015, I saw a need in the drug and alcohol screening industry for software to help those in this niche trade better manage their businesses. So, with the help of 2 Canadian partners, we started TestChecks, a provider of custom software to drug testing businesses across the US and Canada.

While I have always been active in my communities, politics was not high on my list, I served on the City Council in Ohio for 5 years before we moved to Hurricane, but that was as far as it went. I had no aspirations to do anything else. That is, until now.
  • Foremost among my concerns are women's reproductive rights and the state of our education system. The erosion of women's reproductive healthcare rights, once constitutionally protected for over five decades, is deeply troubling. The recent conservative shift in the Supreme Court and subsequent state-level decisions, particularly in West Virginia, exacerbate this concern. I fear further encroachments on women's rights under the current Republican-dominated legislature.
  • Equally troubling is the state of our education system. The decision to divert public funds to private and parochial schools undermines our public education system, leading to dwindling resources for teachers and students alike. West Virginia's dismal rankings in teacher salaries and student education reflect this neglect. Our children deserve better opportunities, and it's our responsibility to provide them with a quality education.
  • Additionally, the issue of Right to Work legislation warrants attention. West Virginia, once synonymous with support for the working class, has seen a decline in wages and union protections since adopting Right to Work policies. Reinstating Prevailing Wage regulations would bolster workers' rights and ensure fair compensation.
#1 Women's reproductive Healthcare
  1. 2 The state of our education system, from teachers salaries, the lack of qua;ified teacher candidates and the discipline issues facing our teachers.
  2. 3 Workers rights - we are seeing an erosion of the middle class blue color worker, unemployment benefit reductions and reduction in worker's compensation.
My father. He was a modest man in a modest profession but he worked hard everyday. He taught me how to treat people, especially those less fortuate and differend from us.
A successful candidate should have business acumen, a desire to represent their consitituents as opposed to rule over them and an understanding that the right things to so isn't usually the most popular thing.
I have been in a variety of professional carreers and have been successful in all of them. I understand people. I listen to people. And I am an extrememly efficient probem solver.
To represent their constitutents and protecting their rights. Listening to the people they represent and work to find solutions to their issues.
I would like most to be remembered as a friend to everyone.
The assassination of John F. Kenedy. I was in first grade. I remember how school gound to a halt, teachers crying, and not really understanding the impact of the situation of the time.
I was 12 years old at my very first job as a newpaperboy. I delivered the moring newpaper to approximately 50 households in my neighborhood at 5:00AM every day. I learned how to develop customer relations. I also learned sales to increase my route size, money management when I collected the subscritions form my customers and the importance of being reliabe, timely, courteous and punctual.
Harry Potter. He struggled to be accepted among his peers but ended up being the greated of all time.
"Somewhere Over the Rainbow". I am a musical director of the ThunderTones, an a cappella barbershop chorus in Huntington. We just competed in Cleveland, Ohio, and did quite well for our little group. Over the Rainbow was one of our competition song.
Not having a college degree I have had to prove myself throughout every carreer endeavor. I have always told myself that I would not let that get in my way. I work harder, study harder, learn more than my peers and work to be an expert in my field.
#1 Restoring the trust of the residents of the state.
  • 2 Addressing issues that have real impact on the population,
  • 3 Addressing the population bleed from the state, especially with the young folks.
  • 4 Creating a party balance in the legislature and breaking down the supermajority.
  • Not necessarily. One of the biggest problems creating trust issues with consitiuents is carreer politicians.
It's important for legislators to build relationships so that legislative matters can be passed that represent all residents, not just members of one party or the other.
No! I believe anyone who has political aspirations beyond their immediate office is a contributor to the mistrust that festers in our legislation today at both sate and federal level.I think Working to the betterment of the indivual not necessarily the populationin general.
Most of what hear from people is that their legislators don't listen to the people. They focus on social issues that seem to be popular at the time, but doesn't really impact the population at large.
Two muffins sitting in the oven. One says to the other, "Boy, it sure is hot in here!" The other says,"Oh my gosh... a talking muffin!"
To codify abortion rights in the state. Putting a referendum on the ballot to make reproductive health care a right in West Virgnina. Over 60% of the state believe women shoud have a right to abortion.
Our government should be open to the people at all times. While I understand that there are sensitive issues that might need to be discussed in private, the solutions and the means to those solutions should be transparent. The public trust has been destroyed because of too many issues that don't benefit the majority but instead, benefit a small minority, often the wealthy.
