Campaign themes

2016

Hart's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

  • Barack Obama will leave this country with an obscene $20 TRILLION national debt. This is unsustainable and one of the greatest threats to our national security.
  • I support low individual and business taxes and a slashing of business regulations which tie owners’ hands instead of allowing them to pursue enterprise. I advocate the end of tax subsidies for businesses, and an end to “crony capitalism.”
  • As a small business owner, I understand that government does not create jobs: entrepreneurs, growing companies, and a robust economy are what fuels job creation.
  • The government should not micromanage our lives. We are free people living in a free state and country—and I’ll fight to return us to the sanity of a smaller, less intrusive government.
  • I support a border fence on America’s southern border and for strict penalties on businesses which hire illegal aliens. Illegal aliens should have no access to welfare programs, schools, health care, or any taxpayer-funded programs. Our immigration laws should be enforced—not changed due to the whims of illegal aliens.
  • School choice is imperative to promote competition within districts. As with other businesses, competition is key to promoting excellence. Conversely, educators who work in extremely difficult circumstances should not be punished due to their circumstances.
  • I steadfastly support the Second Amendment and will stand with fellow conservatives who seek to uphold it.[1]
