Bob Niemeyer
Bob Niemeyer (Republican Party) is running for election to the Oregon House of Representatives to represent District 25. He declared candidacy for the general election scheduled on November 3, 2026.[source]
Biography
Niemeyer is the son of a dentist and grew up in Silverton, Oregon. He graduated from Silverton Union High School in 1973 and went on to receive a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Oregon State University in 1978. He is a licensed professional mechanical engineer and, in 1988, founded his own engineering company. He holds over 30 product patents to date.[1]

2016
Niemeyer ran unsuccessfully for governor of Oregon in the 2016 special election to complete the term of Governor John Kitzhaber (D), who resigned in February 2015 and was replaced by Kate Brown (D). Four other Republican candidates filed to run in the primary.[2][3]

Niemeyer's campaign website stated his "number [one] priority" was regaining Oregon's independence from overreaching government. Niemeyer also promised that as governor he would rewrite the state constitution to reflect these ideals.[5]

Oregon voted for the Democratic candidate in all seven presidential elections between 2000 and 2024.
Pivot Counties (2016)
Ballotpedia identified 206 counties that voted for Donald Trump (R) in 2016 after voting for Barack Obama (D) in 2008 and 2012. Collectively, Trump won these Pivot Counties by more than 580,000 votes. Of these 206 counties, two are located in Oregon, accounting for 0.97 percent of the total pivot counties.[7]
Pivot Counties (2020)
In 2020, Ballotpedia re-examined the 206 Pivot Counties to view their voting patterns following that year's presidential election. Ballotpedia defined those won by Trump won as Retained Pivot Counties and those won by Joe Biden (D) as Boomerang Pivot Counties. Nationwide, there were 181 Retained Pivot Counties and 25 Boomerang Pivot Counties. Oregon had two Retained Pivot Counties, 1.10 of all Retained Pivot Counties.
