Biography
Victoria Maddox was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio. She earned a high school diploma from the TRECA Digital Academy and a bachelor's degree from Everest University in 2016. Her career experience includes working in manufacturing. Maddox has been affiliated with Logan County Democrats.[1]

I grew up and still live in Logan County, where I learned the value of hard work and fighting for what you believe in. I earned a BS in Criminal Justice from Everest University. I have worked in manufacturing or fast food my whole life so I know what long hours and low wages look and feel like.
My whole life I wanted nothing more than to help people however I could, that's why I got a degree in Criminal Justice. Over time however, I realized that the criminal justice system isn't the best way to help people, changing policy is the most effective and efficient way at helping as many people as possible on a much wider scale, which is when I started looking at running for office.
- Today Ohioans are facing higher than ever housing costs, as the demand for single family homes skyrocket while the available housing decreases. I plan to combat this by banning or severely limiting corporations from buying up single family housing. Corporations can out bid every working class family on any house, then they turn around and rent the house out and there is no incentive to ever sell that property, this keeps demand high while the supply is dwindling. By preventing these corporations from buying the houses we open up more possibilities for young families to buy homes instead of being stuck in the perpetual rent cycle.
- Energy costs have been increasing in Ohio at a startling rate. For example, AES customers had their rate jump from 4.8 cents per kWh to 10.9 cents. They more than doubled their rate and PUCO allowed it. PUCO is made up of 5 people that the governor appoints, I plan on digging into these sharp increases and find out why the price was allowed to more than double on customers, as well as talk to experts to find ways to bring the price of electricity to more manageable levels for consumers.
- Above all I want to put the represent back in representative. I want to listen to my constituents and focus on the real problems they have. If elected I will be reachable and actually talk to people and make a positive difference in their lives.
I am personally passionate about housing and energy costs as well as protecting the rights of every individual to live and grow as they see fit. I am passionate about protecting voter rights as well as our environment, because we need a healthy environment to keep this world alive for generations to come.
I look up to my mom and dad, she taught me kindness and he taught me to fight for what I believe in.
Captain America: Civil War. In this movie the Avengers turn on each other over the Sokovia Accords. Every member of the team has their own reasons for either approving the accords or not. All of their reasoning is valid especially from their point of view. One side thinks the oversight is valid and needed to prevent mistakes the other doesn't trust politicians to do the right thing. This to me perfectly encapsulates todays political battlefield. Looking beyond this movie to Avengers Infinity War you see both sides coming back together and working side by side again to save the Universe. This is what needs to happen now, we see the split and the divide happening but its time for us to come together and make this the United States again and fight for the common good of all Americans.
The most important principle for an elected official is honesty. Honesty with voters and honesty with themselves. If they are not honest then they will lose whatever drove them to get involved in the first place and the more lies they tell the more trust they lose.
I am good at thinking outside of the box and coming up with creative solutions to problems. I also listen to different viewpoints and adjust my opinion on issues based on new information that I learn. I am not rigid in my views on issues, if you can give me facts I am open to changing my mind.
The core responsibility for someone elected to this office is in the name, represent. A representative is in office to represent the views of their constituents, not the views of their political party.
I would like to leave a legacy of kindness and helpfulness. I think that every person should strive to leave this world a little better than we found it, and that's what I want to be remembered for.
9/11 was the first historical even that I remember as is the case for most of my generation I was 7 at the time.

Something that I have struggled with is learning when to let go of a losing battle. I always fight to the bitter end which is not always beneficial.
There should be a good working relationship, with some healthy disagreements. If you agree with everything 100% of the time, there is something wrong.
Housing and energy costs are going to be my state's greatest challenges. Its hard to grow manufacturing, and to bring in new businesses when the workers that would come in to work there have no where to live.
I believe that it can be beneficial for some of them to have previous experience, but not all of them. If you are only involved in politics you lose your objectivity and you start to run out of ideas because you have no other experience to pull from to come up with creative ideas to solve problems.
It's extremely beneficial to build relationships with other legislators. You need to have a majority to pass legislation and that comes with collaboration with other legislators.
No, I strive to be my own person in all things, if I start to model myself after someone else I may start to lose a part of who I am.
Currently no, that may change in the future but as of right now I don't want to move beyond state legislature.
Many members of the LGBTQ+ community have spoken to me in fear of what may happen to them with the amount of anti-LGBTQ+ bills being brought up. While many of them are touching and impactful, I do not have permission to share them and so I will keep their stories in my mind and my heart.

No, emergency powers sound great in theory but they can quickly get out of hand and be used and abused.
Ban or limit corporations from buying single family homes. I don't specify which one because I would need to speak to those with more experience to decide which we are legally able to do. I would like the ban but am unsure of the legalities of doing so.

Financial transparency and government accountability are needed 100% of the time. You need to know where there might be bribery going on especially in Ohio. We know about the First Energy bribery scandal and we know that not every politician that received a bribe was not held accountable for it. That needs to never happen. Government officials should be held to a higher standard than everyday citizen, not get slack because they are a politician.
I oppose changes to the current state ballot initiative process.
