The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 11, 2014. John Pfeiffer and Harold Levalley defeated Ralph Meade, Roy Chaney, Jason Warren and Niki Schrader in the Republican primary. Pfeiffer defeated Levalley in the Republican runoff on August 26, 2014, leaving him unchallenged in the general election.[4][5][6]
