Tou Xiong
Tou Xiong (Democratic Party) is a member of the Minnesota State Senate, representing District 44. He assumed office on January 3, 2023. His current term ends on January 5, 2027.
Xiong (Democratic Party) ran for election to the Minnesota State Senate to represent District 44. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
On January 14, 2026, Xiong announced he would not run for re-election to the Minnesota State Senate District 44 in 2026.[1]
Biography
Tou Xiong lives in Maplewood, Minnesota. Xiong earned a B.A. from St. Cloud State University and a J.D. from the William Mitchell College of Law. His career experience includes working as a research assistant at the Public Health Law Center, a law clerk at the Legal Aid Society of Minneapolis, and as a legislative advocate clerk for Minnesota Housing.[2][3]

DUI arrest, guilty plea (2025)
On August 14, 2025, Xiong was arrested and booked into the Ramsey County Jail on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.[4]
On November 7, 2025, Xiong pleaded guilty to one count of misdemeanor operating a motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration of 0.08. An additional charge of driving under the influence of alcohol was dismissed upon acceptance of his misdemeanor guilty plea.[5]
DUI conviction (2022)

On January 8, 2022, Xiong was arrested for driving while intoxicated.[6] Xiong pleaded guilty to one count of driving while intoxicated in April 2022. The judge sentenced Xiong to 90 days in jail, which was stayed and waived after one year. Xiong was also sentenced to one year of supervised probation.[7]
